Many movie enthusiasts felt it was a breath of fresh air for the DC Expanded Universe when Aqua man was launched in 2018, injecting the sometimes dour show with a sense of humor and much-needed levity. And Warner Bros. is planning a sequel to the movie with James Wan once again at the helm after some favorable feedback, but the producer has promised that the second installment will go in a completely different direction.
In the opening minutes of the first film (not to mention the remainder), it would almost definitely see Black Manta requesting revenge for Aqua man’s transgressions. We just saw the roots of the classic villain in the first film, but his second appearance is the rational time to unleash his true capacity as the arch-nemesis of Aqua man, with more than 50 years of comic history to look for inspiration.
Whom is Amber heard?
We saw Amber Heard playing the role of Mera in the first part of the film. The role she played also earned a great deal of praise from the supporters and that is also one of the reasons for the success of the first segment.
Warner Bros. has not publicly announced so far that they intend to remove Amber Heard from the sequel till now, but her petition for the elimination of the actress from the part of Mera in the forthcoming sequel of the film is growing faster. Now, Blake Lively is the other actress. Even, for the role of Mera, she could be the right choice. She could be a better pick, the DC fans even say.
When is it going to release?
Warner Bros announced that the sequel will stream in theatres on December 16, 2022, four years after the first film was released.
Sequel pre-production was supposed to begin in 2020, but we don’t know if this is still the case due to the current global situation. Either way, there’s already plenty of time ahead of the expected release date.
