Renowned British actor John Boyega, who made his remarkable image by his mindblowing performance in Star Wars sequel trilogy marched in London against the death of African American, George Floyd. A massive response movement was witnessed in the British city to uncontrollable ongoing violent protests in the United States against the brutal death of George Floyd, who died after becoming perpetrators of police abuse in detention.
With John Boyega, many other stars also supported the Black lives Matter movement. The Star Wars fame of John Boyega has expressed a series of intense emotions against discrimination and encouraged all those who gathered at Hyde Park to protest peacefully. The protestors marched towards the residence of Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Downing Street. Due to the protest, the road traffic got slow, but then it honked in support of the demonstrators.
On Wednesday, John Boyega gave a passionate speech protest in London and said that “Black lives have always mattered”‘. And he further added that all have always been important and have always meant something. They have always succeeded. No one is going to wait.
Besides that, he also added in his pain-filled voice that he is no longer obsessed about his future because he won’t hold back and speak from the heart. He continued that this moment is “physical representation of our mentality, of our shared idea that Black Lives Matter.” He further added that
For his heartfelt expressions, he was embraced many times during the protest. He also claimed that people of African origin have the right to live a healthy, safe, and happy life, John Boyega also requested that everyone come together to prove this point.
Boyega said in his inspiring speech, black lives have mattered to all always. They have always been so important and meant something to all of us. Black lives have succeeded so much in life and will continue to do so. There is no waiting.
The passionate speech of John Boyega found support from the Star Wars universe. The Disney-owned studio behind Star Wars Lucasfilm wrote on its Tweeter that “We stand with and support you, @JohnBoyega.” Besides that, a link to Boyega’s full speech was also shared.
A statement too was shared by Star Wars which read, that Lucasfilm is totally in support with John Boyega, “NOW IS THE TIME. BLACK LIVES HAVE ALWAYS MATTERED. BLACK LIVES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IMPORTANT. BLACK LIVES HAVE ALWAYS MEANT SOMETHING. THE EVIL THAT IS RACISM MUST STOP. WE WILL COMMIT TO BEING PART OF THE CHANGE THAT IS LONG OVERDUE IN THE WORLD. JOHN BOYEGA, YOU ARE OUR HERO.”
The protests in Hyde Park is the second of its kind existence, as the former group protested nonviolently at Trafalgar Square on Sunday. More than a hundred people have gathered to express their solidarity with a former football player, George Floyd, who passed away after a white cop Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck while he struggled to breathe. Death of Floyd has caused so much anger and rage in people that they have now in unity come together on the streets to protest and start riots. The situation in the US is terrible due to this. Also, a massive amount of people took part in the movement.
