The team had also announced the renewal of the next two seasons which is very uncommon. Moreover, the show is based on a book by Deborah Harkness. It is a trilogy named All Souls. The show was able to pull two million viewers for its first season. A discovery of witches was shortlisted twice for Best New Drama at the National Television Awards.

Overview
Firstly, A discovery of witches shows a forbidden alliance that is formed between a witch and a vampire. It follows the life of the protagonist Diana Bishop, who is a historian. Although she comes from a family of witches, she is not a fan of being anything like them and like to stay away from her family legacy. However, her fate had other things in store for her. In the beginning, we see Diana in a library doing research, leading an ordinary life, but things take a different turn when she breaks the spell and opens an enchanted book.
The book contains many secrets and answers to the world of magic. Even though Diana tries to ignore her feelings and curiosity, but she fails to do so. She goes back again and retrieves the book with her magic. At that point, she realizes a vampire is watching her. However, all these events led to a relationship blossom between the two. They go on to find the mysteries behind the world of humans, witches, daemons and vampires. In this journey, they encounter trouble, magic and obstacles.
